Hi, i was playing the trivia game today, and it was good, apart from some little glitches i noticed. it'd be good if we could have some sounds in there, so we knew whether our answer was right or wrong, and it'd make the game more interesting. secondly, i had the question, what does 3.14159 stand for, i put the answer, pie in, which was correct, but it came back as incorrect. just thought i'd post this.

it's pi. not pie. grins.

You have to be sure to spell your answer correctly or it will be counted as wrong.

I think it would be great if we could get the correct answer to a question if we answer it incorrectly. I also think we should be some sounds to let us know if our answer is right or wrong.

maybe some of the questions cood be multiple choice

Post 6 by Blue Velvet (I've got the platinum golden silver bronze poster award.) on Saturday, 22-Jul-2006 17:47:07

I think the reason they don't give the correct answers is because questions are going to be used atgain. If you play often enough, it would be possible to memorize correct answers and then have the advantage over new players.

Also I think because points lost go into a pot, it is fairer that the answer doesn't get given so as to give none of the premium members easy extra points.

Post 8 by Austin's Angel (move over school!) on Saturday, 22-Jul-2006 18:52:02

i agree. i think there should be some multiple choice questions

Post 9 by nikos (English words from a Greek thinking brain) on Saturday, 22-Jul-2006 19:53:39

It's a very good game. I am wondering if users could submit questions it might be a good idea so we will get more questions and if we play the game frequently we won't have the same questions.

Post 10 by Chris N (I just keep on posting!) on Saturday, 22-Jul-2006 21:49:50

I like the submitting questions idea, myself. Currently the way that it works is that we have a question, and one correct answer. We don't look at the case of your answer, so for example if the answer were America you could spell it with a capital or lower case a and still be correct. Questions are drawn at random. We don't give the answers so that premium members don't get an advantage. Sounds would be a cool idea.

Okay, just had to put in my two cents here. I like the game, but, why are premiums the only ones who are allowed to get the points that are in the pot for a particular question? This doesn't seem very fair to me. I answered a couple of questions correctly, and they had points in their pots, but since I'm not premium, I didn't get them. I also agree with Becky, when she said that we should be able to see the category before placing our bets.

Post 12 by Spirit Led Poet (a single snowflake falling from the stars above) on Sunday, 23-Jul-2006 16:48:14

I also agree that we should be able to get the points in the pots, as well as having multable choices for our answers. I also agree with being able to pick our own catigory because as stated above we could bet more points on the stuff we know.

Post 13 by Harp (I've now got the bronze prolific poster award! now going for the silver award!) on Sunday, 23-Jul-2006 17:26:04

I think the way that Chris currently has the game working makes perfect sense as it happens with regard to how the points are awarded. The way it is now the game is open to all users to play, but has a built in insentive for people to perchase premium memberships. If winning extra points bothers you that much, spend the $25 and upgrade your account.

yeah, it is worth it. oops, i didn't know i spelled pie wrong in that way, grins back. also, the users playing, there isn't a list of users playing when you enter on the game. we had this problem with who said that and that got improved.

Post 15 by Blue Velvet (I've got the platinum golden silver bronze poster award.) on Monday, 24-Jul-2006 10:58:00

I have been 100% sure I gave a correct answer in a couple instances and yet still got called incorrect. I made sure of correct spelling and to put words when it said words and numbers when it said to use numbers. That's as annoying as the times I get points taken away from me instead of given to me on blackjack when I get 21.

Post 16 by sugarbaby (The voice of reason) on Monday, 24-Jul-2006 11:46:16

some of the answers are definitely being given as incorrect when they're correct. I've given answers and have been 100% sure they were correct, too the extent I then went and looked them up on wiccapedia and varified they were correct and yet they were still incorrect and I lost the points. so definitely a bug in there somewhere.

Post 17 by Blue Velvet (I've got the platinum golden silver bronze poster award.) on Monday, 24-Jul-2006 13:32:42

I just found another bug. I sometimes get an error message telling me I bet more points than I had to bet. However, I did have enough points originally, but once I get this error message, it has taken the points I bet away from me without having told me whether my answer was correct or incorrect. So, there are two major bugs that are taking points away from people. I sure hope an admin decides to read this and respond to it.

Post 18 by Chris N (I just keep on posting!) on Monday, 24-Jul-2006 20:33:12

If you're getting the "Your bet of..." error, it's because the number of points you're trying to bet is larger than your total. Let's say you have 50 points and bet 30, getting the first question wrong. That would subtract 30 from your original total of 50, leaving 20. If you clicked on the "next question with same bet" button, you would then try to bet 30 points, and be unable to do so since you only have 20 points in your account. That error displays before the points are actually subtracted from your account.

Buckeye Cat, I have looked at the questions you have answered incorrectly, and they are not due to simple spelling errors (in most cases). I'll be adding something so you can submit a comment about questions you get incorrect.

Post 19 by Musical Ambition (I've got the gold prolific poster award, now is there a gold cup for me?) on Tuesday, 25-Jul-2006 11:26:42

Okay, I can understand the concept behind the reasoning of only allowing premiums to get the points in the pots for a particular question, but like others have mentioned, I find that even when I answer a question correctly, it still says I'm wrong. I've even done what sugarBaby has done, and looked up answers later, when I was done playing, and I found the same answers that I had put. I also make sure to check the spelling and everything before answering.

Post 20 by Blue Velvet (I've got the platinum golden silver bronze poster award.) on Tuesday, 25-Jul-2006 13:56:47

I have found you have to be very careful with how you word the answer. Make sure you put digits for an answer requiring a number, such as a year, unless it says use words. Make sure also that the thing doesn't say "two words" because you have to put just one word unless it says otherwise. I have benefited from other people's mistakes by coming up with basically the same answer as was listed as a wrong answer just because another person put "a" or "the" when only one word was wanted.

Post 21 by HauntedReverie (doing the bad mango) on Tuesday, 25-Jul-2006 15:08:57

Premiums are the only ones getting the points from the pot? Heh, I'm premium and I don't even think that's fair. If the game is for all users, then so should be the points. Also, yeah, the stupid game is rather picky isn't it. Some multiple choice questions would be great

Post 22 by cuddle_kitten84 (I just keep on posting!) on Wednesday, 26-Jul-2006 7:04:54

i don't think the game is necessarily stupid, i think a lot of hard work's gone into it, one other problem i have is you can't send qn's while playing the game, and you can in others. i wonder if this could be fixed?

Post 23 by fuzzy101 (The master of fuzz!!) on Wednesday, 26-Jul-2006 17:55:01

I've had the same problem where I've put in the right answer and it says I'm wrong.
I think that multiple choice questions would be a good idea.
Otherwise I like the game.

Post 24 by JH_Radio (I've now got the silver prolific poster award! wahoo!) on Wednesday, 26-Jul-2006 19:49:25

Gah, I'd probably lose points from spelling things wrong. I'm also not sure exactly what a pot means, and not sure what digets are. I know you can word numbers as words for example, or put them as with a seperating comah. such as a four digit number, do you right one thousand, one hundred and twenty five? Or maybe its the american way worded without the "and". or is it 1125? I'll admit I haven't played the game, but it sure does sound verry verry confusing.

Post 25 by Blue Velvet (I've got the platinum golden silver bronze poster award.) on Wednesday, 26-Jul-2006 21:14:54

In this game you don't use punctuation. Usually large numbers, such as a year (1948 for example) is written in numbers. But if a question starts out with "how many" the answer is usally to be written by spelling out the number.

Post 26 by Chris N (I just keep on posting!) on Wednesday, 26-Jul-2006 23:41:24

I'll probably make it so trivia comes up in a separate window and doesn't have quicknotes at all. Then you can play it and send QNs in the main window.

Post 27 by softy5310 (Fuzzy's best angel) on Saturday, 29-Jul-2006 14:57:07

I too love the sounds to indecate whether a question is right or wrong, but I wish we could have different sounds on it than the sounds already used for Blingo. Most of the other games have their own unique sounds, so I wish this one could too. I'd also love to be able to submit my own questions and the idea about picking, and or creating which catigories you play in, instead of having all the questions in one mixed bag. I'd love to be able to create a couple catigories on there and questions to go along with them. But, there'd probably have to be a rule for the younger users of the zone as to which catigories can be created. For example, in the creating catigory wizard, if someone tried to have say, a catigory bout sex, after they put in the title of it and hit enter, it would come up with an error message stating that this catigory cannot be created, as there is no age limit on the zone and younger users don't need to play something like that.
Just my two cents,
Dawnielle
